Kim Sajan, Multi-Media Design Teacher: Manhattan Center for Science and Mathematics
I came across your website while doing research for my curriculum for the fall. I was so excited that I am planning on doing a project based upon your website. I deal with the issue of community in my computer classes. I am planning on doing projects based upon local, national, cyber, and world communities. Your (project) fits perfectly into the world community lesson. I am planning on having my students graphically represent each line of your findings through the use of computer-generated images.
Robert Ambrogi, Director: American International School of Johannesburg
We are deeply involved in this wonderful project. It is very exciting and the student work here has been so interesting.
Amanda Sterk, Social Studies and Literature Teacher: American International School of Niamey
I am extremely excited about this project. After discussing (it) with my director, we are incorporating the 6th-12th grade. We are focusing on the historical and social aspects of the project. Being an international school in West Africa, we know diversity and realize the world is not what it always seems as the media portrays it. This will be interesting project to see through the students eyes; in the sense that Niger is still finishing with its famine and the poverty of the world is seen next door every day and how the students deal with it. Good luck!

Our process is done! The students really enjoyed the project and are hoping that someone will get picked for the final project. The students created collages to pictorially depict the numbers in the 100 People Project, and made graphs as well. They then presented it to the school and parents. What a great event! It's been fun!
Elyane Ruel, Grade 6 Teacher: Tashkent International School
I am pleased to tell you grade 6 has begun the process needed to send photos and information to you for the website. We think this is an excellent project.
David White, Photography Instructor: Jakarta International School
My students who were selected for the Gallery are thrilled. My new students have viewed the website and their classmates/friends entries are excited about their future submissions. On the first day of this New Year many of my new students excitedly asked if they were going to do the "World Portrait Project." I'm thrilled they also have the opportunity.
Linley, Friend of David White
We have all visited the (100 People) website in the family and I have emailed it on to some friends in various parts of the world to encourage them or their children to do a private collection of the people they know or meet in the countries they live in. OUTSTANDING PROJECT, and such an opportunity for people to learn more about each other, get to see how others really live, and to experience new things!
I think this has got to be one of the finest projects I have seen in all of my years, and we have 4 children and have traveled extensively and had our children in various schools! I hope you will continue this type of a project long after the international project is over.
It has brought many long discussions about in our home, percentages of the various people leading to math problems calculating how many Indonesians would make up the % of 100, etc.
Mark Kucharski, Photography Instructor: International School of Manila
I think it's a great project with really interesting and thought provoking information presented in a very clear and stimulating manner. (It) is stimulating lots of debate and some good ideas for work. Looking forward to the results. Well done to everyone concerned!
Melissa Robertson, Photography Instructor: American School of Madrid
I did this project last semester with my multimedia class. I would like to repeat this project this semester.
Here is what I plan to do: My students will look at the world as 100 people and choose a category that interests them (50 men, or whatever). They will make a short movie about their choice to fulfill my requirement and from their movie, create a portrait and write a little blurb to fulfill your requirement. I look forward to successfully submitting nominations to the 100 People project… it is a fantastic project!
Brad Ingimundson, Art Teacher: Asociacion Escuelas Lincoln (Buenos Aires)
We are all done (with the project). It was particularly difficult to get people to sign the release forms and in a couple of cases we discovered, after the fact, that the subjects didn't give us their correct names. Argentina is going through a period of distrust right now and perhaps this is reflective in our difficulties. So, unfortunately, a few of our very best images we will not be able to submit. I am very glad that we participated and I believe the students took a lot away from the exercise, including an understanding of the difficulties. The best and most gratifying part of the project was the introduction and discussion regarding the issues that this initiative brings forth. I am sure from the students' point of view it was a valuable experience, and I know the kids took something away from the process.
Tim Boulton, High School Science Teacher: International School of Manila
I just had the pleasure of viewing the 8min video: 100 People Manila, Philippines. It's superb! Powerful! Absolutely perfect for our students! Mark Kucharski has made arrangements to show the film to our high school students at an upcoming assembly. The video will make a huge impact on our kids: the contrasts between the average Filipino and our students are so evident in the film. After watching the film I know that many students will want to get a copy of the DVD.
This gives me an idea: With your permission we could burn 300 copies of the DVD and sell them to students for about $2 each. This would raise 60,000 pesos, the price of one home in the village we visited together. 100% of the proceeds would go to our GK777 program. I am so impressed by the outcome of your work in Manila! I will be following your project with interest as you continue to cover the entire planet.
